Mini Golf Master 2
Mini Golf Master 2 is a re-issue of an earlier game Mini-Golf Megaworld. It is a casual mini-golf game for up to four people. When the game installs it loads a game-browser onto the player's machine. This means that when the player selects the link to play the game they actually load the browser and from there they launch the game. Gameplay is simple and can be controlled either via the keyboard or the mouse. At the amateur level all the player has to do is point the arrow that runs through the ball in the direction they want. This can be done either with the mouse or the left/right arrow keys. The only other control is the strength of the shot which is shown on a horizontal orange bar. The player either presses the SPACE key or clicks the mouse to start shot strength increasing and does the same thing when the desired strength has been reached. That's all there is to it. At the professional setting the player gets another control which affects accuracy. The game is based on a series of cups. The player starts playing the Bronze cup which consists of five courses, they cannot progress to lay the Silver Cup until four of the five Bronze courses have been played. Each course consists of nine holes. In the Silver Cup there are again five courses but one course is locked and can only be accessed after the player has achieved a sub-par round on one of the other courses. The holes are varied and each hole appears as though it is floating in space. Some are shaped like letters, others are themed so that, for example, after playing a course where a hole was positioned, say, at one end of a capital 'E' the next course may have the player sending the ball through a dinosaurs legs. All the hills and ramps, twists and bends, obstacles and hazards that would be expected in a game of this type are featured. As the player progresses more special features, such as sinking the ball down a hole to have it fired across a gap to another part of the course, make their appearance. The game does have sound effects which can be heard during play. There's ambient effects such as birds tweeting, wild cheering for a hole in one, mild cheering for a par, and a single person clapping sarcastically for a bogey. There's also in-game music that's heard when the scorecard is displayed. There are two kinds of play. There's the practice mode where the holes can be played but the score is not recorded and the normal game which records the best score for each hole and ultimately puts the player into the Hall of Fame.
