Nippon Oozumou Kakutouhen is a sumo wrestling released for the PlayStation 2 on November 15, 2001 in Japan only, developed and published by Konami, as the second game in the series. The Japan Sumo Association has given Nippon Oozumou Kakutouhen its official license, making it the first grappling game available for the PlayStation 2 devoted explicitly to sumo wrestling. Oozumou allows its players to construct they’re alter egos and send them on a mission to become the Yokozuna Grand Champion. The game features more than 700 real-world fighters like Musashimaru, Takanohana, and Akebono. The motion capture of actual JSA competitors allowed the creation of the animations. Dedicated sumo fans can choose from various gameplay modes, including exhibition and career when playing the game.
